The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently visiting the Fernie 2 Community Hall in Mpuluzi to render expert services into the community.
SASSA are going to be rendering services including new social grant applications, change of payment method, consumer care enquiries, along with the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.
In a statement, the agency mentioned it is actually alarmed about the higher quantity of people relying on social grants for survival.
“The aim of the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to a high number of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.
“This can be as a result of lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there is no absolutely functional office committed to service the area each day. The services point made for intervention encounters a higher inflow of possible beneficiaries, that makes it challenging for the Workplace to attend to all people who pay a visit to a service point.
“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise much more resources to enable the servicing of all prospects and raise use of Social Assistance providers,” the agency said.
